What documentation is required for VAT or tax exemption?

You must provide and get approved from us the official business or non-profit documentation, such as:

Business registration certificate
VAT registration
Official non-profit verification from relevant authorities

How do I know if my VAT or tax exemption has been approved?

You will receive a confirmation email once your exemption has been reviewed and approved.

SCA Courses & Certification

Can I take the CoffeeMind Roasting Professional + Sensory Performance course without first completing SCA Intermediate?

Yes — depending on whether your goal is the actual learning experience or the official SCA certificate.

If you want the official SCA Roasting Professional certificate, SCA now requires participation in and passing the SCA Roasting Intermediate exam before attending the Professional level.

However, there is no required waiting period between the two courses. You can therefore take Intermediate and then immediately continue into Professional if schedules align.

Importantly, the CoffeeMind Roasting Professional + Sensory Performance course itself goes far beyond the standard SCA Professional curriculum. All participants complete the same:

Intensive roasting exercises
Advanced sensory calibration
Practical cupping work
Roast analysis and troubleshooting
Data interpretation
Production roasting discussions
Hands-on immersive learning throughout all 4 days

The only practical difference for participants pursuing the SCA certificate is a 35-minute online written exam at the very end of Day 4.

For many experienced coffee professionals, the real value lies in the practical roasting and sensory learning experience itself rather than the certificate. The SCA certificate is mainly relevant if you specifically need formal certification documentation for:

Job applications
Internal HR requirements
Employer reimbursement systems
Training compliance requirements

Otherwise, you can still attend the full CoffeeMind learning experience without pursuing the SCA certification track.

Can I take multiple SCA courses within a short period?

Yes. Some courses are scheduled close together during certain periods of the year, although there may occasionally be a gap of about a week between them.

How long is the SCA Roasting Professional + Sensory Performance course?

The course consists of:

4 on-site training days
2 days of e-learning preparation completed beforehand before arriving to the 4 days on-site training.

Can I take the SCA exam after completing the course?

Yes. The SCA exam is typically taken together on the final day of the in-person course. Please ensure you meet any official prerequisite requirements.

Can I complete the online portion of a course outside Copenhagen?

Yes. The online portions of our courses can be completed from anywhere with a stable internet connection.

What happens if a course is postponed or cancelled?

If a course is postponed or cancelled, which hardly ever happens as we run with donw to 3 participants on courses, you can:

Move your registration to another date
Receive a full refund

What should I do if I do not receive confirmation for my registration or rescheduled course?

Please contact us directly so we can verify your registration and ensure your seat is secured.

Can I reschedule my course ticket?

Yes. If you cannot attend the scheduled date, we can move your ticket to a future course without a rescheduling fee or process a refund.

Roasting & Technical Learning

Do CoffeeMind roasting courses use large drum roasters or only small machines?

Our courses include work on a variety of machines, including larger drum roasters.

Are there affordable alternatives to the Agtron spectrometer?
